Blue lace agate is considered rare! Agates are found all over the world but Blue Lace agate specifically is only mined in small quantities in South-Africa and Namibia.
It is said that Blue Lace agate inspires you to talk gently, the delicate powdery blue encourages soft spoken words and nurtured feelings.
This incredible piece has been artfully strung using chunky Blue Lace agate nuggets and octagon cut slices (1 with a center crevice - holy stone, through which the thread can be seen) in combination with 10mm white freshwater pearls. A marine blue nylon has been used to knot between each of the Lace Agate and pearls set off by silvered Hematite spacers and up-cycled silver wrapped bagels. This necklace measures 93cm in length (double length) and ropes in beautiful blue and white to mid torso.
From the artist:
“It is hard not to be drawn this rarely mined agate that is prized and collected throughout the world for it’s unique powdery blue coloring. Gem-quality stones seldom become available and are often priced per gram so it is truly a find when I come across different shapes and cuts of this stone.
To be honest I have always found it challenging to use Blue Lace in combination with other color gems, it is almost as if Blue Lace demands to be used by itself, however time and time again I have found that it is welcoming to the combination of especially white pearls, perhaps because of the delicate white agate infused lines or simply because pearls speak with the same gentle tone.”- Joe
